ANNOUNCEMENTS Nutrition newsletter!!
May Tonalea Times... (spanish version) Greetings from the Principal Thank you to Dr. Peterson and Greg Skelton for New playground equipment at Tonalea Tonalea was the recipient of a new piece of playground equipment due to the efforts of Dr. David Peterson and Greg Skelton from SUSD. Systems, Inc. awarded the NEOS™ grant to the Scottsdale Public School District and Tonalea was selected to receive it to upgrade their playground and provide students with a new piece of interactive playground technology. This equipment was installed on Friday, April 25. The first users were the students enrolled in the City of Scottsdale After School Program. If you look at the pictures of some Tonalea students along with our PE Teacher Mr. Eiler, you see how the equipment fosters high movement, competition, sound, and lots of fun. The technology equipment is described as: “Kinetic! Explosive! Interactive! NEOS moves at the speed of light. It's Challenging........ The world's newest electronic sport is an electronic game for the heart and lungs—not just the thumbs. It's a giant video looking game with all the bells and point possibilities of a hand held but this game gets kids hearts pumping and pounding.” Come and see the students using the equipment and having a new wonderful physical activity experience.

Immunization Requirements Updates Beginning September 1, 2008, new vaccination rules will go into effect for students entering into 6th grade for the 2008-09 school year. The early notification will allow enough time to ensure your child is vaccinated appropriately before school starts on August 11th, 2008, and to avoid crowded doctor’s offices as the deadline approaches.
AND
According to Arizona State Law, students will not be able to continue attending school (after September, 1st, 2008) without documentation of required vaccinations. Please provide a copy of the recent immunization record to the school health or main office reflecting these vaccines prior to September 1st, 2008 to avoid disruption in your child’s education. For those students who will be entering into 7th grade for the 2008-09 school year, proof of chicken pox immunization or history of chicken pox disease is required before entry. Those students who are currently lacking this data have already received a letter from the health office informing parents and guardians to either obtain the varicella vaccine or provide information of immunization or disease.
